Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are common infections, especially in females. They are not contagious and usually are not a serious condition. However, if left untreated, could lead to a serious kidney infection which needs urgent medical treatment by a doctor.

At West Lakes Shore Pharmacy, our pharmacists are trained to identify and treat uncomplicated UTIs, and can supply a one-off course of antibiotics if certain clinical criteria are met, without needing a prescription from a doctor. This allows for a quick solution and may prevent the infection from progressing further.

Signs and symptoms of uncomplicated UTIs may include:

  • Prickly, stinging or burning feeling when passing urine

  • Strong urge to urinate often and urgently, even if only a few drops

  • Bladder still feels full after urination

  • Pain/discomfort in the belly

Patients will need to meet the following criteria to be eligible for a consultation, all other patients will need to see a doctor:

  • Aged between 18 - 64 Years Old

  • Female

  • Not Pregnant

UTI Consultations are $29.95, please note that a consultation does not guarantee antibiotics, and referrals may still be required.
